Ofsted highlights significant progress at Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge
A positive Ofsted inspection has recognised the significant progress made by Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge, highlighting improvements in teaching, leadership, national examination outcomes and the quality of education students receive.
The inspection was carried out under Ofsted's new inspection framework, which no longer results in a single overall grade. Instead, inspectors evaluate how well schools are meeting expected standards across a range of areas.
We are delighted to share that report recognises many of the benefits Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge provides for its students. It highlights the positive impact of the work undertaken over the last 18 months to drive standards in academic outcomes with inspectors noting "Across the curriculum, pupils achieve well.”
The report highlights improvement in national examination outcomes at the end of key stage 4 improved in 2025 compared to previous years, greater consistency in teaching and the curriculum, and the positive impact of the actions taken by school leaders, supported by Maiden Erlegh Trust.
The positive culture across the school is evident throughout the report. Inspectors noted that pupils “are respectful to each other” and “are typically attentive and want to learn,” recognising the calm and purposeful environment that supports learning. While attendance remains an area of focus, the report also acknowledges the work already underway to strengthen attendance and provide support for students who need it most.
The inspection confirms that expected standards were met across achievement, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. Safeguarding standards were also confirmed as met.
This positive inspection outcome reflects the commitment and professionalism of our staff, the support of our governors and Maiden Erlegh Trust, and the contribution our students make to school life every day. It also reflects the continued support of our families, whose partnership helps create the positive learning community recognised throughout the report.
